Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign, left a press briefing in Washington, D.C., after a tense exchange with CNN’s media team over the upcoming presidential debate.
Leavitt criticized CNN moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, questioning their fairness due to past critical coverage of Trump. When CNN producers tried to cut off her remarks, a back-and-forth ensued. Leavitt then ended the media appearance and walked out.
The Trump campaign has repeatedly voiced concerns about media bias ahead of the first debate, which is scheduled to be hosted by CNN later this month. The incident added fuel to ongoing tensions between the campaign and mainstream news outlets.
While some criticized Leavitt’s tone, others argued she was standing firm on free speech and media accountability. The press briefing’s abrupt end quickly spread across social media.
